Mitzvah Projects

B’nai Mitzvah

A Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a milestone that celebrates individual growth and the values of community, compassion, and responsibility. Through a project with the Friends of the Lone Soldier, teens can honor these values by supporting those who defend Israel.

We invite teens to dedicate their Bar/Bat Mitzvah project or class Tzedakah campaign to this meaningful cause. By supporting the Friends of the Lone Soldier, you’ll provide critical resources like meals, equipment, and emotional support to soldiers far from home. Together, we can ensure that no soldier stands alone.

Tzedakah or Mitzvah Project

Is your school, club, or youth group looking for meaningful ways to engage in community service, leadership, and global awareness? Partner with the Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin and you’ll do just that!

The Lone Soldier Center supports young men and women serving in the IDF without immediate family in Israel, providing critical resources including housing, mental health support, meals, and a strong sense of community.

These experiences are not only about fundraising, but about helping youth develop leadership, empathy, and a personal connection to a cause that reflects the values of responsibility, service, and community.

Project Highlights

  • Simcha participation

Incorporate Lone Soldier stories into your celebration décor by featuring photos and stories of Lone Soldiers at your event. Many families have also chosen to donate the cost of centerpieces to the Lone Soldier Center, replacing traditional floral or balloon arrangements with framed pictures and details about the Center’s impactful work. This gesture adds meaning to your celebration while supporting a cause close to your heart.

  • Personalized Fundraising Page

Share your mitzvah project with family and friends through a personalized page featuring your photo, special date or occasion, and personal message. Groups and school clubs can also use their project pages to raise awareness, inspire participation, and bring their community together in support of Lone Soldiers.

  • Connect with Lone Soldiers

Meet soldiers virtually or in person (when possible) and hear their inspiring stories. These meaningful conversations help students build a personal connection to the mission and better understand the impact of their support.

  • Write Letters of Support

Write heartfelt messages to uplift soldiers during their IDF service. These notes provide encouragement, connection, and a reminder that they are supported by communities around the world.

  • Sponsor Meals

Sponsor a Shabbat meal at one of our Lone Soldier Centers on the day of your simcha and we will celebrate with you in Israel!

  • Visit and Volunteer

If traveling to Israel, dedicate time to helping at the Lone Soldier Center or participating in on-the-ground projects. You may also wish to sponsor a meal while there and celebrate this moment together.

  • Share a Video

Our soldiers will say Mazal Tov and send a special video of gratitude for you to play at the celebration. You could also make your own video to send to Lone Soldiers to show your appreciation!

  • Be Creative

Organize bake sales, mitzvah markets, or other community events to raise funds. These initiatives allow YOU the opportunity to take leadership, engage your peers, and turn personal passion into meaningful support for Lone Soldiers.
